It's fun to meet in person, the folks we discuss the music with here. How about a NYC get together?

Micah has selected a fantastic Puerto Rican restaurant in Chelsea. It's got a fantastic reputation for great food, huge portions and it's very inexpensive. La Taza de Oro is a top-ten BYOB in NYC and sounds like a perfect spot for a forum party!

Hopefully the weather will cooperate and Saturday, February 12 will work for heads in the NYC/Tri-state area.

Micah and Deb are in, jglynn has signed on, but I have not heard back from WHARFRAT yet. All forum folks are welcome and encouraged to attend. Should be very fun! Who's going to join us?

NYC lunch #2 folks. Hope you join us. Some more info.

A cross section of New Yorkers—Latinos, blue-collar workers, club kids, St. Vincent’s nurses—crowds the lunch counter, ordering items like mondongo (tripe stew), pasteles (banana-and-meat tamales), pig’s feet, goat stew, roasted pork and white beans with chunks of calabaza squash. Servers shout in Spanish, chiding regulars and keeping the busy, down-at-the-heels atmosphere upbeat. Food arrives fast, but you won’t be rushed out

Very cool j. We may need to change venues. We may need an eight or ten top!

Sounds good! I will check with my better half to see if the calendar's open.

p.s. are we planning lunch or dinner?

sounds like fun, sorry thats a bit too far of a drive for me. maybe Amosearle and the other ATL area forumites can do the same here some time.

btw Zuma was excellent, thanks for the suggestion. We enjoyed lots of nice sushi and sashimi and washed it down with a bottle of Gruet. I like the bubbles with sushi, nice way to wash the palate between pieces and not as heavy as beer.

Larry, DeadATL and I are working towards a meet up on April 3. I believe we are looking for something in the vicinity of the FOX THEATER and we will need to finish up before 7:30. DeadATL is kind of driving the boat as this is his home turf. I'm coming in from B'ham, Home of the World's Longest "Iko, Iko". Perhaps, you and Amosearle can come in from Hazzard County.

I didn't see the latest list but it seems like there are a couple of forumites from Geo.

Cool, keep me posted. As you can see below turnphilup is also in the neighborhood. I am less than 10 miles from midtown so that works for me.

I vote the Porter. Not in the Fox's hood, but I have grown fond of the place. There is a location of the Vortex north of the Fox that might do, but I haven't been in a while. Vortex Midtown? Not sure if my Missus would be up for it, but she always keeps me guessing anyway...

Yeah i love The Porter! Although not too far to the Fox, not exactly around the corner either. Still have not made it to the Vortex.

to avoid confusion, there's a Vortex in little five near the Porter and a different one in Midtown north of the Fox on Peachtree.

Vortex is more like a burger - sports bar with tatooed hipster waitresses and lots of stuff hung from the ceiling for effect. Porter is a real beer destination.
